The Abruzzo region is situated in the Southern part of Central Italy. Abruzzo is bordered by the Lazio region (with Rome) to the west, and Adriatic Sea to the east. The region covers an area of 11.000 sq.km. (4250 sq.miles) and has approximately 1.3 million inhabitants. The main city of Abruzzo is L'Aquila and the area is divided into four provinces: L'Aquila, Chieti, Pescara and Teramo. The landscape of the Western part of Abruzzo is dominated by the mountain range of the Apennines, so that more than half of the region is at least 500 meters (1640 feet) above sea level. The highway system in Abruzzo is among the most developed in Italy, and therefore it is always easy to get around by car in spite of the mountainous landscape.

If you're not arriving in Italy by car, the airport closest to Casa Selva is in Pescara (45 km/28 miles from Casa Selva), and is serviced by the low-cost airline company RyanAir. However, you can also choose to fly to other airports such as Rome Ciampino or Fiumicino (200 km from Casa Selva) or Bologna (300 km from Casa Selva) and then travel to Casa Selva by car. There is a highway directly to Casa Selva from both Rome and Bologna. For American travelers we recommend flying to London: from the London Stansted airport you can fly with Ryan air directly to Pescara.

If you arrive on the highway from Bologna in the north or from Pescara in the south, take the exit: "Teramo-Giulianova-Mosciano" (1). After the exit turn right in the direction of "Mosciano" and then left towards "Selva" (2). At the following roundabout take the "SS 80" exit (3) and proceed - even following the road through a sharp right-turn (4) - and follow the signs towards "Contrada Selva" and "Casa Selva".

When arriving on the east/west Roma-Teramo highway proceed towards "Giulianova" (even after the highway ends). Take the "Castellalto - Bellante" exit and proceed in the first roundabout in the direction of Bellante and in the second roundabout in the direction of Giulianova. Aprox. 2 km ahead you cross a small bridge (Torrente Ceca) and immediately after you turn left and take the small road "Contrada Selva Alta". Continue straight ahead until the road ends in a bigger road, and then turn right. You will arrive at Casa Selva after a few kilometers (on your right).
